The Board of Directors met in a special meeting this week to learn more about additional work needed at Costa Chica. The contractor had started their work on the replacement of the rusted brackets and upon removal of the existing brackets, the contractor discovered extensive wood rot on the wooden beams and columns behind the brackets. This resulted in a re-evaluation of the project and a new scope of work was presented to the Board at the special meeting.
Two proposals were presented, and the Board approved moving forward with the required repairs that will cost $389,350. The project is funded from the community's reserve account. Construction is expected to take at least 6 weeks to complete. The work will be beginning on Monday. During construction, Costa Chica will remain closed.
Out of an abundance of caution, during construction, there may be occasions where foot traffic will need to be redirected around the adjacent areas.
